Remembering brings joy

I have noticed that working with the elderly they hold on memories.  At this point in their lives they don't have much to them depending how their bodies are lasting them.  Some may have a routine of how they do things.  Some may not know what to do in the next moment because sadly they have forgotten what had brought them joy (not by choice).

But remembering the past in the stage of life that the elderly I have met is what holds some of them together.  Its the remembering that brings back the memories that brought them so much joy and happiness of the little things in their life.  Remembering when they first met their spouse, their first baby's scraped up knee, the moment they walked their daughter down the isle, the job that they learned and loved to do and were happily devoted to.

Due 32:7
Remember the days of old; consider the years of many generations; ask your father, and he will tell you.

Thankful for this day.  Remembering the wonderful days given.  Sharing memories with others-touching lives through stories.  Each day a good day-because you are with each of them and me while I have the honor to care for them.

Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Please help those in my care, help keep them safe in your embrace.  Help me to care about others as much as you care about them.
