Finally...

Written Aug 8

Shortly after the kids and I had gotten back from El Paso at the end of July.  Micah had sent me a text while I was registering Karlee for school.  It simply stated that he had booked a spot from Aug 16-22.  I knew it had to do with camping since we had talked some about it but let it drop.  I sent a reply back asking where.  He sends back CA. I soon began to smile from the inside out with a huge beaming smile for all to wonder about.  In fact I began to squeal and jump with excitement in the hall way of the school while Karlee was trying to open her locker.  Soon we were both jumping up and down with excitement.  From that moment on all I could think about was finally getting the chance to see the ocean.  I've wanted to for so long and now the whole idea of it was making me very anxious.  I couldn't wait to see the ocean, smell it, feel the cool crisp of it and then surround my toes with sand and soak up some sun ray.

I'm sitting here watching the waves crash in on the shore.  It is so amazing!  I love watching the wave roll in and then how the sand on the shore shifts in with the water after the wave hits. We have been here in Malibu since Monday afternoon and today is Wed. morning.  The kids are having so much fun.  I'm so happy they have a chance to experience the ocean now in this point in their lives.

Wow! Vacation was awesome but you know they say that you are suppose to relax during vacation.  The relaxing comes in after you have returned from vacation.  Our days were full from the moment we rose in the morning until we put our heads down to catch some shut eye.   Each moment was something to cherish and treasure.  Watching the kid's faces as they saw the ocean from a distance to the moment they stepped into the ocean.  Each one of them enjoyed playing and jumping in the waves, running in the warm sand and warming up in the sun after the cold water had chilled them to the bone.  Even the not so good moments....listening to them moan and groan about being hungry after they roller bladed down to Venice Beach to browse around knowing that our lunch was back in the truck at Santa Monica Pier.  Or the few moments that they were cranky to each other since they were so tired.  But it was VACATION!  I'm thankful that it all went so well, our travel was safe and everyone had fun.

I have to go for now and get dinner going so I will have to post some more pictures of our vacation later.
