A job & a break

This week I had the opportunity to be our church secretary.  I covered for our secretary so she could go on vacation and recharge!  It's been a good week.  I have really enjoyed getting back into what I know best, clerical, office....etc.  It been sort of a break for me to come work here at the church.  Don't get me wrong I do enjoy my job with Comfort Keepers but it's always nice to be in a place and doing what you really know you can do and be good at it.  As a care giver it's a challenge knowing if you will work out with the client or not, different personalities and such.

I do have to tell you a little funny thing that happened yesterday.  I have been laughing about it to myself.  So I needed to print the church bulletins.  You would think that doing them and getting in all the information on the computer would be hard but for me figuring out which way the paper goes in the printer was harder for me.

I finally gave in and text Linda and asked for help.  I didn't get a reply in a reasonable length of time so I got back up to try again.  After try try again and wasting some paper I finally printed it!  I did  a little happy dance afterwards.

The funny part was a few hours later when I had been home, I was looking through my phone texts and thought "wow Linda didn't answer me...she must be out of town...good for her, I'm glad"  As I looked at the name I noticed that it said "Lance Martin"  An embarrassing feeling washed over me and left a light pink glow on my cheeks.

He is an old friend that lives in Las Cruses NM.  Well now I know what Linda never answered :)
But I also realized that God's hand was in this......he was there and helped me figure out the printing without pestering Linda :)

Try try again and ask God and he will help you.

(I sent a message to Lance and told him sorry for the mix up but he never replied so maybe I got the wrong number and the wrong person still!)  Oh well I'm grateful for the Lord's help and reassurance.

Have a nice weekend friends

Whats been going on

What's been going on?  Well there is always something going on......and each day ends and starts again. Each day I look for the joys in the midst of life and I'm thankful for those moments.  I'm discovering that life isn't easy and we already know that but its the way we respond to it that impacts our life in more ways than one.  If I respond negative or try to focus on the negative I'm not happy and I don't feel good and everyone around me is miserable.  If I respond with grace, and thankfulness in the negative I can feel His presence and can be at peace in those moments.

I may find things to fill my days and distract my thoughts for a few moments but at the end of the day I know that I'm alright because His hand was in my day.  I know that to start my day I need to be in His word and surrender the unknown of the day so that He can work in my life.

I'm grateful for all that has been going on........

A day to breathe

Today was Memorial Day and I spent the day alone.  I was suppose to work a few hours today but it all changed last minute.  I started the day off a little frustrated because of it since that meant I could have spent the day at Lake Pleasant with my family.  Instead this is how the day went....

The girls went to the lake with Micah.  Kyle went over to Arthur's house.  That left me to myself.....
I went  and turned in my time sheets for work, then went across to wheeler park and browsed at the arts and crafts that was set up in the park.  Then I decided I wanted to go browse at World Market.  I enjoy walking around that store and taking it all in.  After that I went window shopping at a few more stores then I went by Wildflower Bread company to pick up a late lunch to take home and indulge in while enjoying my balcony.

I put on some music after eating something and finished planting my flowers in pots.  I was super excited to then just sit there and enjoy my little area.  Later I grabbed my camera and began playing with different settings taking pictures of all my flowers.  I had fun snapping pictures of my surroundings.  Soon it was getting to be late in the afternoon and I found myself feeling discontent with sitting there so I grabbed my camera bag and headed out the door again.

This time I drove out to Lake Mary, it was a nice drive, not very busy.  I found a place to pull over and walk down to the rocky shore.  I sat for a along time enjoying the water, I love listening to the sound of water roll in and hit on the rocks and the shore.  I saw two boats, one looked like they were fishing and the other one was out to play and ski in the water.  There were a few people along the shore down from me fishing.  It was so relaxing sitting there, it started to get a little cool so I put on my sweater that I was glad I brought.  I took several deep breaths in and released them slowly.....

While sitting there I had also played with my camera again.

I had my family in the back of my mind but I knew where everyone was at and that they were alright and enjoying their day therefore it made it easier for me to be alone and enjoy mine.....my day to just breathe.

Silence

I'm sitting here on my couch sipping my jasmine tea and listening to the silence.  I'm enjoying the sound of it.  In silence I can find peace, and joy.  (maybe my headache will go away shortly)

Looking back on today.......

I met with a friend to talk about V.B.S. stuff but instead we shared our prayer concerns and emotions were brought forth with a few tears.  In the mix of that moment there was joy.....two sisters in Christ being there for each other and then smiling while we planned and organized for the crafts.

I met with another friend....I cherish that she has been there on my journey since I've lived here in Flagstaff.  Even sharing and updating her on my crazy, rocky life events there was joy found too...

Now its nice to just sit here and take a few deep breathes in and out and enjoy the flavor of my jasmine tea and just be.

A good week

This past week was a great week!  It was nice to have a distraction from "normal life".  My mother in law and father in law came for a visit.  Micah had not seen his mother for 11 years.  I had met his mother years ago when we were dating in our twenties.

I like his mother.  His step dad is a little different but nice too.  We enjoyed being tour guides while they were here.  We kept busy and now its time to get back in the swing of normal life again.

Here are some pictures of what the week looked like:

Micah, Dawn (his mom) and Ian (his bother) Ian came to visit last weekend

Saturday was filled with Kyle's baseball games

Happy Mother's Day
catching up on memory lane

A new mother's day pic for me

Wupaki to end a nice Mother's Day

Monday: a day at Lake Pleasant

The visit wouldn't be complete without going to Sedona

They really enjoyed the drive through the switch backs
The Grand Canyon on Friday

Dave, Dawn & Micah

It was a really nice week!  Thank you Lord blessing our family with many joys and blessings while we got to know more of our family.

Not sure what to say...

I'm not sure what to say these days to friends and family.....but I seem to have lots to say to God lately.  I keep looking upward and writing in my prayer journal and smiling at others around me.

Still don't know what to say....

my oldest daughter is driving with me every chance she gets, she and I are really getting along lately and having fun together.

my son has been staying with his dad and seems quite content and comfortable.

my little Sara bear is growing and changing so quickly and is so loving and forgiving of others, she warms my heart.

my step-son is facing some major changes in his life that affects the rest of us....especially my husband

school is almost out again for another year.....

my job is going alright

I'm turning 40 next Sunday (on mother's day this year) .....not so sure about turning 40 but very blessed none the less :)  thank you Lord.

My mother in law is coming next weekend.  My husband hasn't seen his mother for about 10 years.....she will be visiting for a week with her husband.

A new day starts tomorrow......

Bittersweet

All day long I've tried to come up with a word that would describe the feeling of my day today.  The only word that hangs on in the background is Bittersweet.  Although I'm leaning more to the negative side of the word than the sweet part to be honest.

I've been praying for so long for truth to come out and for circumstance to change in regards to my step son, praying that he would get caught and then a disciplinary action would take place to get his attention.

Now that it seems that my prayers have been heard and answered on some level....why do I have mixed emotions and my heart aches?

Details are still unknown to the new development in the situation and daily living around my step-son and family.....

All I know to do right now is to lean on God, he knows best and has everything worked out for the good of all involved beyond our understanding.  All I can do is rejoice in the peace and freedom that has come with it and then pray for the Holy Spirit to take hold of it all.

Bittersweet......
