Every summer I enjoy sitting in my mom's backyard. Most mornings we enjoy our coffee out there and then sometimes in the evening we'll have a glass of wine. She also has a hot tub in the midst of her beautiful yard that we enjoyed too. We always enjoy the one on one time and conversation.
Started in 2010 during a difficult season, this blog became a place to process pain, hold onto faith, and reach out to anyone feeling alone. Through time, art, motherhood, and life’s lessons, I’ve grown stronger and learned to meet each season with grace. Today I write from a place of healing—sharing reflections, creativity, and quiet encouragement for living with resilience, hope, and a deeper trust in God.

My Mom and Her Yard

Chaparral Style
One thing that my daughter did with her Grandpa on vacation was....learn how to parallel park. She drove his truck, which she really enjoyed and she parked between two big boxes instead of cones. It worked and she did really well.

A new tradition
Last year we went out to Chaparral and grilled pizzas at my dad's. We had so much fun and they were really good. The whole process just really helped bring us all together to enjoy some family time and create memories.
This year we grilled pizzas on my Dad's 63rd birthday. Once again it was great yummy fun! So I think we will continue doing this every summer we go visit my dad.

Vacation to Texas 2013 (Day 1)
To start the week off, on Sunday my mom and Larry took us to Las Cruces NM to the Farm & Ranch Museum. I enjoyed all of it, the animals, the scenery, the old timey things inside, the old tractors and the black smith demo. But I think the boys like the Black Smith Demonstration the most and the girls I think liked it all....although I have to wonder with Karlee, every fake animal she saw she was kissing it for some strange reason. They all were very easily entertained when it came to the milking demo machine on display.....they really enjoyed putting their thumbs in the hole to feel the pressure and the sensation that a cow would feel while being milked. The Blacksmith made a nail and Kyle was excited to keep it. Kyle's best friend Sean joined us this year on our trip to El Paso Texas.
After the Museum we headed to the Mall to do some shopping and have lunch. It was a great day and a great start to our week.

Finding the Joy
Today is the 4th of July! Happy Independence Day Everyone! My daughter Karlee and I went to the parade here in Flagstaff AZ. I have to say that I really didn't want to. I think that after living in a small town as Fort Davis TX and their 4th of July parade sort of spoiled it for me....we had a great parade there. Karlee wanted to go with a friend and her family so we did. We met up with them. I enjoyed being around them.
While watching the parade for a bit, Karlee leans over to me and says see mom "Ft. Davis didn't have an awesome eagle in it". I laughed and told her thank you for finding the joy and pointing it out to me.

I had fun at the parade.
The eagle was my favorite!
My daughter's smiling face and her sunny outlook really made the parade extra special!
My youngest, Sara was in the parade with some friends from her school. (she is the little blonde girl waving)

A job & a break
This week I had the opportunity to be our church secretary. I covered for our secretary so she could go on vacation and recharge! It's been a good week. I have really enjoyed getting back into what I know best, clerical, office....etc. It been sort of a break for me to come work here at the church. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy my job with Comfort Keepers but it's always nice to be in a place and doing what you really know you can do and be good at it. As a care giver it's a challenge knowing if you will work out with the client or not, different personalities and such.
I do have to tell you a little funny thing that happened yesterday. I have been laughing about it to myself. So I needed to print the church bulletins. You would think that doing them and getting in all the information on the computer would be hard but for me figuring out which way the paper goes in the printer was harder for me.
I finally gave in and text Linda and asked for help. I didn't get a reply in a reasonable length of time so I got back up to try again. After try try again and wasting some paper I finally printed it! I did a little happy dance afterwards.
The funny part was a few hours later when I had been home, I was looking through my phone texts and thought "wow Linda didn't answer me...she must be out of town...good for her, I'm glad" As I looked at the name I noticed that it said "Lance Martin" An embarrassing feeling washed over me and left a light pink glow on my cheeks.
He is an old friend that lives in Las Cruses NM. Well now I know what Linda never answered :)
But I also realized that God's hand was in this......he was there and helped me figure out the printing without pestering Linda :)
Try try again and ask God and he will help you.
(I sent a message to Lance and told him sorry for the mix up but he never replied so maybe I got the wrong number and the wrong person still!) Oh well I'm grateful for the Lord's help and reassurance.
Have a nice weekend friends

Whats been going on
What's been going on? Well there is always something going on......and each day ends and starts again. Each day I look for the joys in the midst of life and I'm thankful for those moments. I'm discovering that life isn't easy and we already know that but its the way we respond to it that impacts our life in more ways than one. If I respond negative or try to focus on the negative I'm not happy and I don't feel good and everyone around me is miserable. If I respond with grace, and thankfulness in the negative I can feel His presence and can be at peace in those moments.
I may find things to fill my days and distract my thoughts for a few moments but at the end of the day I know that I'm alright because His hand was in my day. I know that to start my day I need to be in His word and surrender the unknown of the day so that He can work in my life.
I'm grateful for all that has been going on........
